🚨🇵🇹 João Neves Withdraws from Portugal Squad Due to Injury
Portugal have suffered a major setback ahead of their upcoming World Cup qualifiers as João Neves has withdrawn from the national team due to physical problems.
According to an official statement from the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), the Benfica midfielder was deemed not physically fit to continue with the national team during preparations for the October international break.
The 19-year-old has been battling a left thigh injury, sustained during PSG’s Champions League clash against Atalanta on September 17, 2025. Despite efforts to regain full fitness, medical examinations confirmed he would be unable to participate in the upcoming fixtures.
As a result, Nuno Tavares of Lazio has been called up as his replacement for the qualifiers.
