Enzo Maresca Confirms Robert Sanchez Is No Longer Chelsea’s First-Choice Goalkeeper

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Robert Sanchez is no longer the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. This decision marks a significant shift in the Blues’ goalkeeping hierarchy as they prepare for the upcoming season under their new head coach.

Sanchez, who joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2023, initially secured the No. 1 spot following Kepa Arrizabalaga’s departure on loan. However, inconsistent performances and competition from Djordje Petrović have led to a change in status.

Speaking to the media, Maresca explained his decision:

“We have analyzed the situation carefully and decided to go in a different direction. Robert is still an important part of the squad, but for now, we will rely on other options in goal.”

With this announcement, it is expected that Petrović will take over as Chelsea’s new first-choice goalkeeper, while Sanchez’s future at the club remains uncertain.
