Wilfred Ndidi Could Leave Beşiktaş as Al-Ittihad Renew Interest
Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi could be on the move again this summer, with Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ittihad reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian midfielder from Beşiktaş.
Ndidi’s future in Turkey has become one of the major talking points of the summer transfer window, just one year after he joined Beşiktaş from Leicester City.
The 29-year-old defensive midfielder signed for the Istanbul giants in August 2025 in a reported €8 million deal and is contracted until June 2028, with Beşiktaş holding an option for an additional year.
Al-Ittihad looking for a midfield anchor
Al-Ittihad’s interest is understood to be linked to their need for reinforcement in defensive midfield following Fabinho’s departure.
The Saudi club had previously pursued fellow Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika but turned their attention to Ndidi after that move failed to progress. Reports from Turkish media have suggested an offer in the region of €10.5 million, potentially rising to €12.5 million with bonuses.
However, there is an important caveat: Beşiktaş sporting director Önder Özen previously stated that the club had not received an official bid for Ndidi, despite reports of interest from Saudi Arabia.
Ndidi’s Beşiktaş future remains uncertain
Ndidi quickly became an important figure at Beşiktaş following his arrival. He made 31 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign, while also becoming a leadership figure within the squad.
Despite his importance, reports have suggested that Beşiktaş could consider selling if their valuation is met. The club is believed to want a fee comfortably above the €8 million they paid Leicester.
That leaves the situation delicately poised. Ndidi has a long-term contract, meaning Beşiktaş are under no immediate pressure to sell, but a sufficiently attractive offer could change the equation.
What would a move mean for Ndidi?
A transfer to Al-Ittihad would represent another major chapter in Ndidi’s career.
The Nigerian midfielder spent several seasons in the Premier League with Leicester City before moving to Turkey, and his defensive discipline, ball-winning ability and experience at the highest level make him an attractive profile for Saudi clubs.
For Al-Ittihad, Ndidi would provide experience and defensive stability in midfield. For the player, the move could offer a lucrative new challenge in the rapidly growing Saudi Pro League.
For now, however, no completed transfer has been confirmed. Al-Ittihad’s reported interest is clear, but the final outcome will depend on whether the Saudi club submits an offer that meets Beşiktaş’ expectations.
