Uli Hoeneß Left ‘Speechless’ After Jamal Musiala’s Second Collapse in Four Days
Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß has admitted he was left “speechless” after Jamal Musiala suffered a second on-field collapse within just four days, describing the situation as a “drama” for the German giants.
Musiala collapsed during Bayern’s friendly against Heidenheim on Tuesday, just four days after experiencing a similar episode during the club’s 3–1 victory over RB Leipzig. The repeated incidents have understandably raised concerns around the 23-year-old midfielder.
💔 Hoeneß: “I was speechless”
Hoeneß revealed how deeply the latest incident affected him.
“The fact it happened again four days later really shocked me. I was speechless, which rarely happens to me.”
The Bayern figure described the situation as a “drama”, admitting that the club was not prepared for what happened and will now have to learn how best to manage the situation.
He also made it clear that Musiala has the full backing of Bayern.
“We support Jamal unconditionally.”
Hoeneß added that Bayern’s doctors are maintaining constant contact with specialists as the club works to support the midfielder.
🧠 Musiala reveals neurological condition
Musiala has since provided an important update himself, explaining that medical examinations have identified a temporary and treatable neurological dysfunction that can cause brief episodes of impaired awareness or consciousness.
The Bayern star reassured supporters that he is receiving specialist medical care and remains optimistic about his recovery. Reuters reports that doctors have indicated the condition is manageable and that Musiala can continue his football career.
That clarification has provided some reassurance after the frightening scenes witnessed during Bayern’s two preseason matches.
A difficult road back
The latest episodes come after Musiala had already endured a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The Germany international suffered a serious leg and ankle injury against Paris Saint-Germain at the 2025 Club World Cup, forcing him to miss 196 days before finally returning in January 2026. Bayern confirmed his comeback against RB Leipzig, where he immediately registered an assist.
His return was therefore supposed to represent a major step forward in his recovery. Instead, the latest health concerns have introduced another unexpected challenge.
Bayern’s priority is Musiala’s wellbeing
For Bayern, the immediate priority is clearly not football but ensuring that Musiala receives the appropriate medical support.
Hoeneß acknowledged that the club was not prepared for the situation but stressed that Bayern will do everything possible to help its young star.
The message from the club is therefore unequivocal: Musiala will not face this alone.
For a player who has already overcome a major injury setback, the latest chapter is undoubtedly another difficult one. But with specialist medical care, Bayern’s unconditional support and Musiala himself remaining optimistic, the hope is that the talented midfielder can overcome this challenge and return to the pitch safely.
Football can wait. Jamal Musiala’s health comes first. ❤️
