CAF Condemns Ill-Treatment of Nigeria National Team at Libya Airport
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released a statement condemning the ill-treatment of the Nigeria National Football Team, also known as the Super Eagles, at the Libya airport.
CAF Statement:
“The Confederation of African Football has been informed of the unfortunate incidents that occurred at the Libya airport, involving the Nigeria National Team. CAF strongly condemns the ill-treatment and unacceptable behavior towards the players and officials.
We take seriously the well-being and safety of our teams and expect host countries to provide adequate facilities and respect.
CAF will engage with the Libyan Football Federation to address this matter and ensure necessary measures are taken.”
Background:
The Super Eagles were en route to Benghazi, Libya, for their AFCON 2025 qualifier match against Libya when they were reportedly subjected to unacceptable treatment, including prolonged delays, searches, and harassment.
