Mohamed Salah Wins Third FWA Footballer of the Year Award
Liverpool’s talisman Mohamed Salah has once again made history, winning the 2025 Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year award. This marks the third time Salah has claimed this prestigious honor, equaling the record held by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Salah’s phenomenal season saw him net 33 goals and provide 23 assists across all competitions, leading Liverpool to their 20th English league title. The Egyptian international started every league match under manager Arne Slot, showcasing remarkable consistency and leadership on the field.
The award, decided by over 900 members of the FWA, saw Salah secure nearly 90% of the votes—the highest margin of victory this century. His Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk finished second, while Alexander Isak of Newcastle United and Arsenal’s Declan Rice also received strong recognition.
Salah’s latest accolade further cements his legacy as one of Liverpool’s all-time greats. He will be officially honored at the FWA Footballer of the Year dinner in London on May 22.
Congratulations to Mo Salah on this incredible achievement!
