Pep Guardiola Eyes Florian Wirtz as Kevin De Bruyne’s Successor at Man City

Manchester City are setting their sights on Bayer Leverkusen’s midfield sensation Florian Wirtz as a long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, according to SPORTBILD.

Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of the 20-year-old German playmaker, and City even attempted to sign him in the January transfer window. However, Leverkusen made it clear that a winter move was impossible.

With De Bruyne’s contract winding down and his future uncertain, Man City are expected to return in the summer with a massive offer. But securing Wirtz’s signature won’t come cheap—Leverkusen reportedly value their star at a staggering €150 million.

Despite City’s interest, the most likely scenario remains that Wirtz will stay at Leverkusen for at least another season. The Bundesliga club, currently thriving under Xabi Alonso, are reluctant to lose their key player as they aim to compete at the highest level.

Would Wirtz be the perfect successor to De Bruyne at Manchester City? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
