Real Madrid Edge Dortmund in Thriller to Reach Club World Cup Semifinals

Real Madrid advanced to the semifinals of the FIFA Club World Cup after a dramatic 3–2 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Friday night at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The Spanish giants were in complete control for most of the game, with Gonzalo García opening the scoring in the 10th minute after a brilliant assist from Arda Güler. Fran García doubled the lead shortly after, converting from a precise cross by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, the game took a wild turn in stoppage time. Dortmund struck back through Maximilian Beier in the 92nd minute, but Kylian Mbappé, coming off the bench, responded instantly with a sensational bicycle-kick goal to make it 3–1. Moments later, Dean Huijsen gave away a penalty and was sent off, allowing Serhou Guirassy to pull another back for Dortmund.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made a heroic save in the dying moments to deny Marcel Sabitzer, ensuring Madrid held on for the win.

The match began with an emotional minute of silence in memory of Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva, adding a layer of poignancy to the evening.

Real Madrid will now face Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal on Wednesday, July 8, in what promises to be another heavyweight clash.
