Arsenal Held by Brentford: Title Hopes Slip Further

Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes took a serious hit after a 1–1 draw against Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on April 12, 2025.

The Gunners went ahead through Thomas Partey in the 61st minute, after a slick counter-attack started by Declan Rice. However, Brentford responded in the 74th minute when Yoane Wissa found the back of the net from a recycled corner.

The result sees Arsenal fall 10 points behind league leaders Liverpool, with just six matches remaining. While the title race isn’t mathematically over, the gap now looks nearly insurmountable, especially given Liverpool’s consistency.

Speaking after the game, Mikel Arteta admitted, “It feels like a defeat. We needed three points today, and we let it slip.”

Adding to the pressure, Manchester City’s recent win means they’re now hot on Arsenal’s heels in the race for second place.

With the league title hopes fading, Arsenal will now turn their focus to the UEFA Champions League, where they hold a commanding 3–0 first-leg lead over Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
