Merseyside Police Prepare for Liverpool vs Man City Clash Amid Team Bus Attack Fears
🚨 Merseyside Police are preparing additional security measures ahead of Sunday’s Premier League showdown between Liverpool and Manchester City, amid concerns that the visitors’ team bus could be targeted by supporters. 🚔⚽
The security concerns follow the circulation of a social media post calling for a “bus greeting” ahead of the highly anticipated match at Anfield on Sunday, October 11.
According to reports, the post encourages supporters to gather along Anfield Road before kick-off, with flags, banners and pyrotechnics among the items mentioned. Police are aware of the plans and have confirmed that an appropriate policing operation will be in place. <Cite refs={[“turn940095news21”,“turn940095search2”]}/>
⚠️ A Reminder of the 2018 Incident
The latest concerns bring back memories of April 2018, when Manchester City’s team bus was attacked as it arrived at Anfield for a Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool.
Bottles and other objects were thrown at the vehicle, causing significant damage. Liverpool FC subsequently condemned the incident and apologised to Pep Guardiola, his players and the club’s staff. <Cite refs={[“turn940095search1”,“turn940095search12”]}/>
🔥 Tension Builds Ahead of Sunday’s Showdown
The upcoming fixture is already attracting significant attention, with the rivalry between the two clubs adding to the anticipation surrounding the game.
However, while passionate support is part of football, any attempt to damage the team bus or endanger players, staff or members of the public could have serious consequences.
Police will be working to ensure that both teams can arrive safely and that supporters can enjoy the occasion without violence.
⚽ All Eyes on Anfield
Liverpool and Manchester City are set to meet in one of the weekend’s most anticipated Premier League fixtures, but the focus off the pitch will be on security and crowd behaviour.
