🚨 Alan Pardew Urges Manchester United to Make Move for Ezri Konsa
Former Premier League manager Alan Pardew has urged Manchester United to explore a move for Aston Villa and England defender Ezri Konsa, describing him as the type of centre-back who could make an immediate impact at Old Trafford.
Pardew believes Konsa possesses several qualities United need in their defence, particularly his composure in possession, aerial ability and threat from set pieces.
“Konsa has been mentioned with a couple of clubs. What a signing he would be for Manchester United.”
Pardew added:
“A centre-back who can pass, who’s dominant in the air, gets you a goal from a set piece, just like Steve Bruce.”
His comments come as Konsa continues to attract significant interest this summer. Arsenal have also been pursuing the 28-year-old, with reports suggesting Aston Villa value their defender at around £60 million.
🔴 Why Konsa could appeal to Manchester United
Konsa has developed into an established Premier League defender at Aston Villa and has also become an important member of the England setup.
His versatility could be particularly attractive to United. In addition to playing centrally, Konsa can operate at right-back, giving a manager additional tactical flexibility.
Pardew’s comparison with former Manchester United captain Steve Bruce is based largely on Konsa’s defensive strength and ability to contribute at set pieces.
United currently have Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Ayden Heaven and Lisandro Martínez among their centre-back options, but Pardew believes Konsa could provide another level of experience and reliability.
🏆 Villa face a major decision
Aston Villa would understandably be reluctant to lose another important player after a summer that has already seen several significant departures.
Villa have already sold players including Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers, while Konsa remains one of the experienced defensive figures in Unai Emery’s squad.
The reported £60m valuation would also make Konsa a substantial investment for any club hoping to prise him away from Villa.
👀 Arsenal or Manchester United?
Arsenal appear to be among the clubs most seriously interested in Konsa, but Pardew’s comments have now added Manchester United to the conversation.
For United, the attraction is obvious: an experienced England international who is comfortable defending in a high-level Premier League environment, capable of playing centrally or at right-back and dangerous from set pieces.
Whether United actually make a move remains to be seen.
For now, Pardew’s message is clear: Manchester United should consider hijacking Arsenal’s pursuit and make Ezri Konsa their next defensive signing.
