Nigeria Fight Back From 3-1 Down to Draw Russia 3-3
🇳🇬 The Super Eagles showed tremendous character on Tuesday as Nigeria came from two goals behind to secure a thrilling 3-3 draw against Russia in an international friendly at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium. (Voice of Nigeria)
Nigeria started the match brightly and took the lead after just 10 minutes through Kelechi Iheanacho, who found the back of the net with a superb effort from outside the box.
However, Russia quickly responded. Lechi Sadulaev levelled the game before Matvey Kislyak put the hosts ahead in first-half stoppage time, sending Nigeria into the break trailing 2-1.
Russia increased their advantage shortly after the restart when Aleksey Miranchuk scored to make it 3-1 in the 54th minute.
With Nigeria staring at another disappointing result, the Super Eagles refused to give up.
🔥 Nigeria’s Incredible Comeback
Substitutions made a difference as Nigeria began to push forward with greater urgency.
Peter Edokpolor, making his international debut, produced an impressive finish in the 78th minute to reduce Russia’s lead to 3-2 and give Nigeria hope of completing the comeback. (TheCable)
The Super Eagles continued to press in the final minutes, and their persistence finally paid off.
Deep into stoppage time, Akor Adams found the equaliser in the 90+4th minute to complete a remarkable comeback and rescue a point for Nigeria.

The result will come as a major boost for Nigeria after their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in their previous outing. Despite missing several regular players, the Super Eagles demonstrated resilience and fighting spirit to recover from 3-1 down.
The match also provided valuable opportunities for several young players, with Nigeria handing international debuts to a number of players.
For Eric Chelle’s side, there are still defensive issues to address, but the late comeback will give the team confidence going forward.
One thing is certain: the Super Eagles never stopped fighting. 🇳🇬🦅🔥
